Rainbows made of Gold

danna gomez March 31, 2020

Hello April; What a March it has been. Perhaps we were born for a time such as this, but oh my, God has more confidence in me than I often have in myself. But while I might doubt my ability to forge ahead, I never doubt our caregivers. You continue to be the most awesome group of people. The work you do means so much to those you care for, especially in times like these.

While thinking about our email this week, I read a letter to the Editor in the GR Press (excerpts of which are below) that expressed better than I ever could say how valuable you are to those you take care of. So I thought I would just share his words with you this week.

The letter from Mike E, begins “I have a confession to make, something that in the age of COVID-19 seems almost seditious: Daily, up-close human contact is an indispensable part of my life. I use a motorized wheelchair and I need assistance doing the routine things everyone does every day, like getting dressed and getting out of bed and doing laundry and all that. I’ve hired a crew of people to come in and help me do that stuff. Their wages are paid by a state Medicaid-funded program.

If my crew members do not show up, I don’t get out of bed. There’s no way around it….Generally, I think this reliance is a good thing. It’s a good reminder that, no matter what, everything comes down to us all taking care of each other. That’s what’s gotten us humans this far.

The tougher the times, the more important human contact is to me…

My crew members are among those who can’t just hide at home and wait for the “All clear!” because if they do, some people will suffer even more… Full Letter here.

Many days the change from despair to joy is triggered by your presence in your seniors’ life. Thank you for all you do. We are so appreciative of you.

Staying Safe for All of Us

danna gomez March 24, 2020

Please take a few minutes each shift to make sure you follow all 8 steps. Working together we can all limit the impact of Covid-19. We encourage you to print this flyer and share with your senior. All visitors to their homes should follow the same steps.

Home Care is Health Care

danna gomez March 24, 2020

The Governors’s executive order “Stay Home, Stay Safe” issued yesterday, includes clear language that home health care is considered critical. However, for your own convenience you will want to make sure you have on your Name Badge while traveling to and from work just in case you are questioned about being away from your home.

“If you work in a critical infrastructure industry, such as healthcare services…you have a special responsibility to maintain your normal work schedule.”

We will continue caring for our seniors until told otherwise by the CDC or state. If you have any questions, please call the office.

We Are Here - Update #6

danna gomez March 24, 2020

As we begin this new week of uncertainty, Nora and I are so struct by the courageousness of each of you. We know It is taking courage this week to go to work. We also know you are day in, day out putting the health and well-being of your seniors’ front of mind, pushing away fear and forging on.

Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not I am with you” This is one of my favorite scriptures. I have read it, prayed it and stood on it many times in my life. I especially like a teaching from Pastor Rick Warren where he says that God encourages his followers to fear not 365 times in the Bible, one for each day of the year. Emphasizing that He didn't intend for Christians to spend their days preoccupied with anxiety and worry. Isn’t it nice to remember that.? We will get through this.

Please know that the whole Managed Senior Care admin team is praying for you, your families and our seniors every day. “We know that all things work together for good to those who love God.”  We are just a phone call away any time you want to talk or share a prayer.

Go with God.

Danna
