Looking for Walkers

danna gomez April 26, 2022

With spring in Grand Rapids comes not only showers and flowers, but a plethora of charity walks every weekend. We had such strong interest in our two recent sponsorships of the Alz Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s and Meals on Wheels March for Meals that we have decided to support a permanent walk team. We will provide walk shirts and cover the entry fees. Walks will need to be pre-approved. If you have any interest in being part of our Walk Team, please let the office know. 616-234-0190 Call or Text.

Team Sponsorships

If you have another team that you participate with, don’t be shy about asking us for sponsorships. From pickleball to softball, golf to walking we like being part of the communities we serve.

Mask and Driving Updates

danna gomez March 22, 2022

Well it’s certainly been an interesting few months! As I watch the snow disappear from my yard and franticly finish up the Winter chores I put off, I am relieved at the progress we have made with this terrible virus. The CDC has updated their guidelines and I have to say these are the most obscure thus far. The essence of the new guideline is that masks and other PPE use is left to the discretion of the caregiver and senior.

MASK UPDATE

  • Masks and other PPE is to be used if there is a risk of infection transfer. (e.g., if either the caregiver or senior has had a close contact with an infected person within the last 72 hours or if they have symptoms of Covid 19.)

  • In all other cases, mask use is up to the caregiver and senior/ or their family to decide.

  • A vaccinated caregiver, with booster, does not need to quarantine if exposed, but must wear PPE when with a senior.

This is great progress and I know you all praise God with us! Please continue to call the office with any close contact exposures and Covid questions.

DRIVING & ERRANDS

This is a quick reminder that only a handful of clients have been approved for Errands or Transportation. Prior to doing any driving during a shift, you need to confirm the client is approved for mileage. You will find a specific task that involves driving if they have been approved. The mileage limitation should also be visible. If that task is not on your shift, call the office and review the request from the client. The Care Coordinator will assist you and confirm that you have been approved for driving.

When driving for us, you must have a current MVR on file and notify us immediately, if you receive a driving citation. Driving citations received after your record has been reviewed could result in our insurance company denying coverage. Keep us informed!

Client Signature Changes

danna gomez February 21, 2022

All Client’s Require Signature at Clock Out

We recently made a change to our Clock Out procedures to require a client e-signature for every shift. In the past only select clients had this requirement. With the addition of several new 3rd party payers, we have had to revise how and when we collect signatures.

Clock Out While with the Client

If you use the App, then you will simply give the phone to the client for their signature. (Hint - an inexpensive stylus works great.) If you use the call-in phone number, you are going to ask them say their name into the phone when prompted. For most of you, there is no change to what you are doing now. For some of you, you will need to make sure you Clock Out while still in the company of your client.

Do Not Leave without a Signed Shift Record

If you are unable to Clock Out via the App or Phone, you must call the office while still with your client. The office will handle the system issue and you can obtain the client’s signature on a piece of paper and send a photo to the office before you leave the client. The most common reason for difficulty with Clocking Out, is a shift time change that was not sent to the office with enough notice. Please reminder to advise the office if there is a time change when you receive your 2pm reminder of the next day’s shifts. You simply reply to the text with the new hours and we will update the times.

We are no longer able to wait for your next visit to the client to get the paper signature. Thank you for your help.
