We value your commitment

danna gomez May 17, 2024

Nora and I are looking forward to seeing all of you again next week. Spending time with the amazing men and women that care for the seniors in our community is one of the great rewards of running our agency. We have a lot to talk about, so we hope you can join us either in person or via video conference. (The link was sent to you via text.)

2nd Qtr employee meeting and training - May 21. 5:30 Social time, 6:00 Training.

New Comments Feature

We are pleased to share a new functionality in the mobile app. You can now leave a message for the next caregiver on your senior’s care team and you can hear comments left for you by the prior caregiver.

Comments can be shared within both the mobile app and the back-up telephony option. As always, you are encouraged to use the mobile app for clock in / out. (The telephony is only to be used as a back-up option when cellular data doesn’t work.)

Mobile App

After a caregiver clocks-in to their shift, they will see messages left from the previous caregiver as one of the first items on the Shift Details view. After listening or reading a comment, the caregiver has the option to mark the comment as read. Once the comment is marked as read, it is no longer accessible to the caregiver.

Telephony

After you record a general comment, you can press 1 to allow the next caregiver to hear your comment. The reverse is also true, when you clock-in to the next shift via telephony you will hear that a message was left for you.

Reminder: Comments are visible to the senior, their family, social workers and office staff. Never leave coaching comments about another caregiver’s work as a general comment, those should be only shared with the office staff.

Useful Things Alexa Can Do

danna gomez May 17, 2024

By now you have heard about Alexa. Amazon has created several devices that will assist your every day needs. Alexa can play your favorite music, find a recipe, read your favorite book, or make a grocery list. And depending on other devices in your home, Alexa can turn up or down the heat, lock the doors, and let you know if there’s an intruder.

For the seniors we help, Alexa has numerous other features that can help them in their everyday life.

  • Weather and News Updates

  • Make and receive hands free phone and video calls to their contacts

  • Medication reminders

  • Hands free alarms and reminders

  • Appointment scheduling

  • Grocery lists and other to do lists

  • Home central command of heat, lights and security

If you haven’t tried some of these features, we encourage you to give them a try. You can go to Amazon’s website to search for these devices and use discover more that they can offer.

Here's some information on Toms Guide to help you discover more about Alexa.

Winter Driving Tips

danna gomez January 9, 2024

Winter Weather Advisories

This is a good time to review winter driving safety and traveling to client’s homes. First and foremost, we always want you to be safe. Shifts can be rescheduled, if the roads are not safe to drive on. A bit late is always better than having an accident pushing to get to a client’s home.

If you are going to be late, call your Client. You can view your Client’s phone number in the Wellsky app by selecting Client from the Menu, then selecting their Name. Their profile with their address and phone number are displayed. The office will call to check on you if you are more than 20 minutes late, but we ask that you connect with your senior.

If you actually need to reschedule with your Client for another time, then please do that directly. Reminder, all rescheduled shifts must be completed by Saturday of the same week. Text the reschedule information to the office at 616-234-0190 as soon as you and your client have agreed upon it.

I am also re-sharing our annual winter driving safety tips. Take a minute and double check you have all the things you need in your car, before you go out in the snow. Bundle up and be safe. Driving can be frightening and dangerous. Make sure you have all the necessary equipment in your vehicle to arrive safely at your destination.

If you must head outside and the roads may be treacherous, please keep these things in mind.

  • Make certain your tires are properly inflated and have plenty of tread.

  • Keep at least half a tank of fuel in your vehicle at all times.

  • Never warm up a vehicle in an enclosed area, such as a garage.

  • Do not use cruise control when driving on any slippery surface, such as on ice and snow.
