This year Memorial Day is Monday, May 26, 2025. Originally, Memorial Day was called ‘Decoration Day’ and dates back to after the civil war and commemorates those who died while serving in the U.S. military. Memorial Day is one of the 11 federal holidays and many people use this day to decorate soldiers graves, saying prayers and celebrating with family and friends.
The activity of placing wreaths and flags has turned into a family tradition that I truly enjoy doing. There is just something about remembering how lucky we are to live in the US that makes your day.
We invite you to join our community in honoring our veterans by placing flags on their graves at Restlawn Memorial Park. Our gathering will take place on Saturday, May 24, starting promptly at 9 a.m. We kindly ask that you arrive by 8:45 a.m. for a brief orientation. With the support of several dedicated volunteers, we typically complete this meaningful task between 11 a.m. and noon.
We hope to see you there!
